It is a busy weekend for Villeneuve, on Saturday is the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race Oct 6th, 2007. He qualified 10th out of 36 for the truck race. That race is now over and he finished 30th after getting caught up in a 3 vehicle crash on lap 54. At the time he was running near the back of the pack.
He has qualified 6th for his debut in the NASCAR Nextel Cup UAW-Ford 500, for which he has been given the green light by NASCAR. This moves his schedule up by 5 weeks for entry into that series. This appears to be making some nervous as Villeneuve has little experience in drafting other than in a couple of test runs. There also seems to be a number of variables that make these races very challenging and a high likelihood of crashes occurring.
On Sunday he race in the UAW-Ford 500.
So an interesting start to the weekend for Villeneuve and hopefully there will be clear running in the Nextel Cup race tomorrow.
Out of here for now,
